GRANDPRIX DIABLOS
11 national championship spots up for grabs.
The following 6 are more or less confirmed to get in (they have good enough TPR or direct slots to not be pushed out, whatever other gymnastics happen on the tournament leaderboards of the last two GPs):
GORILLA
JADON
KYLE
BRIAN IRUNGU
MARTIN NJOROGE
FELIX BOERA.
That will leave 5 spots up for grabs. Let’s see how that plays out.
One more spot goes. Of the player with only 3 tournaments played so far, BEN MAGANA has a 2080 TPR. That makes him clear favourite to bag the next spot. He just needs an easy 1940 plus TPR to ease in.
So, we go down to only 4 spots up for grabs.
Methu, Kaloki and Karani are currently within the slot zone. If any of them produces a stable 2000 TPR performance, they are in. But the margin of error is small. Hot on their heels are Misiko, Chumba and Omolo. Of the later 3, Omolo has 3 plus 2000 elo TPR performances. That means, just a 1970 plus TPR performance in one of the last 2 GPs will put him in. I am saying OMOLO is in.
That leaves 3 spots up for grabs.
Methu, Kaloki, Karani, Misiko and Chumba have to now fight it out with the Juniors Paul Olando and Christian Mugambi for those last 3 slots. Due to the big bang TPRs the two juniors got at the Jumia event (plus 2400 and 2300 TPRs) means either (or both?!) of the two just need a 1980 plus TPR to squeeze into the round robin. Thus the main ‘spectator’ action will be in following the performances of these 7 players in the next two and final GP events. These 7 are fighting for those last 3 available GP slots.
It will be an exciting finish to the GP.
